Summary

Heidi describes how much she used to love the Constitution competitions, particularly because she had “braces and horrible acne and it was nice to be valued for [her] brain” (61). She then describes how, while working on the recreation of her experience at the competition, she met “with young women who [were] doing these kinds of contests today” (61). She then comments that she invited one of those women to appear in the performance.

“Rosdely Ciprian, fifteen, now stands where Heidi stood at the beginning of the show” (62). Rosdely introduces herself, her history of involvement with debate, and her perspectives on the Constitution – specifically, her belief that it is an evolving document, capable of getting better in the same way as human beings are capable.
