Chapters 14 and 15 Summary

In Chapter 14, Mr. and Mrs. Grayson both complement Evie on her new dress. Although Joe glares at Peter, he sits next to Evie and calls himself her boy. During dinner, Mr. Grayson drops the idea that he and Joe are thinking about buying the hotel together. On the surface, everyone seems happy with the arrangement. After dinner the men go for coffee in the lobby but Mrs. Grayson and Beverly choose to go to their rooms instead. Evie walks around the hotel and sees Peter standing, waiting across the street. She runs to him and they walk to the beach.

In Chapter 15, Peter talks about his experience in the war. When he describes himself as a rich man's only son, Evie stops him to remind him that he told her that he has a brother. He changes the subject when Evie...
