Summary

Chapter 19 begins with Isaac checking up on Evangeline as she first attends school. Peter spots Evangeline and flinches a bit, then inquires as to how Isaac came to find her. He tells Isaac he has seen her and that Evangeline is lying to him as to how and when she came to town. Peter confesses that he saw her get out of Jonah's truck back in September, a few days before the murder, and Daniel got out too. Isaac is shocked to find that Peter did not disclose this to the police, relaying he thought it could have been a boy from a neighboring town with red hair. Peter suggests they contact authorities and have her placed in a foster home but Isaac refuses. Chapter 20 finds Evangeline reflecting on her first day of school and her new friend Natalia.
