Summary

The narration recounts what happened to Hannah during the pandemic. As a freelance journalist, the financial support schemes available to employers affected by the pandemic were not available to her and the alternatives were less generous, leaving her in a perilous financial situation. A lot of her income came from reviews of live performances which were halted during the lockdowns. She was fearful of how she would cope financially and resented others in her profession from wealthier backgrounds who were better able to weather the storm than her. Her parents suggested she should move back to Bradford and live with them until things got back to normal, with her mother telling her about a job as a receptionist at a doctor’s office.
