Garnet, Massachusetts

In the late 1980s, Miranda and her parents move to the small town of Garnet in Massachusetts. Her mother opens her own medical practice, and her father decides to take a year off to decide what to do with his life now that he is no longer a history professor. At first, the family is happy and loving, but things begin to change once they arrive in Garnet, and a supernatural force seems to haunt the house and force Miranda's mother to become violent and abusive toward Miranda. Miranda is heading off to eighth grade in the fall, but she has all summer to settle in. However, the only thing she cares about is the strange dollhouse she finds in her new attic. Not only is it an exact replica of her new home, but it has magical powers that allow her to look into the past...
