Chapter 9 Summary

Sita returns to a village with Yaksha. She is a vampire, but doesn't fully realize it at this point. She is sensitive to light but has not yet realized her craving for blood. She enjoys the nights now and with her heightened senses she goes to Yaksha and tells him of the pain she feels in her chest and her fear that she's dying. He tells her the only way to stop the pain is to drink blood. At the same time he tells Sita she is sterile and unable to have children now.

About a month later, Yaksha brings Sita the body of a boy with his necked vein already ripped open. She drinks blood for the first time and is taken by the feeling that she drinks until the boy dies. Although she is sad, the killings coming easily after this...
