River Thames
The River Thames is a river that runs through England. Arthur is born and raised near the polluted river. Many decades later, Zaleekhah purchases a houseboat on the same river. The river that was once considered dead because it had been so polluted is now able to house people.
River Tigris
Narin and her grandmother live near the River Tigris. Their homeland is at risk of being washed away when a dam being built will cause the water to wash away their homes.
Nineveh
Nineveh was an ancient Mesopotamian city. It is where current day Mosul is. King Ashurbanipal ruled this land, and its rivers became incredibly polluted because of the dead bodies he would have dumped there.
Iraq
Narin and her family make the journey to Iraq for Narin to be baptized. It is here that Narin is taken captive and her grandmother is killed.
