Summary
Arthur cannot work and asks to be sent home, but he is told to be careful because of the cholera and plague and to continue on with his work. He begins to sort through the remains of other archeological missions, and while doing so he finds another portion of the epic, and it is dedicated to Nisaba not Nabu. Arthur is told that a man named Mahmoud had recently seen Leila, and he realizes that she did not escape to the water like others because she was the one who warned them not to go to the water. He realizes that she must have gone to her “sister of the next world” now that her family is no longer alive (434). He leaves Nineveh one last time.
