Summary

Part 3 opens with the first narrative from Noelle. She explains that she had a rough childhood, with four brothers and a set of parents with very high expectations of their children. She had a sister who died of cancer at the age of eight.

She grew up to have an affinity for mathematics and working in finance for a while before deciding to train as a teacher. Instead of taking any teaching jobs, however, she stuck to tutoring.

It becomes obvious that Noelle is speaking to Floyd, as she mentions reading his book and then meeting him for the first time. She became infatuated with him after learning that they live a few streets away from each other and arranges for an accidental meeting with him at a convenience store.
