Escape Cruise Ship

The Escape is the cruise ship on which Greta spends eight consecutive days. The ship is the primary setting for the novel. Over the months preceding her mother's death, Helen planned the cruise trip with her husband Conrad to celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary. In the wake of her death, Conrad's son and Greta's brother Asher encourage Greta to take Helen's place on the cruise. Asher tells Greta that it will be good for her to be there for Conrad. He separately tells Conrad it will be good for Greta to get away from her life in New York.
