Langley Hall

Langley Hall is the place where Joanna and Hugo’s ancestors lived for more than 400 years before it had to be sold and was repurposed as a school for girls. Hugo’s father lost possession of the house because he could not afford the estate taxes required after his father’s death. Joanna and her family lived in the gatekeeper’s lodge on the property. Joanna never lived in Langley Hall though she did receive a scholarship to attend the school after her mother died.

The Monastery
