Summary

Chapter 15 discussed Clare's final business trips to Nebraska. She avoided her responsibilities, like dinners and meetings, but did not want to tell Richard for fear of his response. Clare would drive around with her headlights turned off.

In chapter 16, Clare followed Richard to Cienfuegos. He tried to avoid her on the train, but Clare trapped him into one car. Clare dropped a note by his feet that said, "Stop running away from me! Where are you even going?" (127). Richard responded in the same manner with a hotel room and a time. On the way back from the bathroom, Clare noticed the man with the flaxseed mustache in the same train car as her and Richard. Clare fell asleep, against her best efforts to stay awake and keep an eye on Richard. When she woke up, the train had arrived in Cienfuegos and Richard...
