Summary

The story began in December 2015 in Havana, Cuba, where the protagonist, Clare, arrived for the "Festival of New Latin American Cinema". Clare came to Havana alone, unsure of her reasoning for being there. Clare gave a fake name, fake occupation, but her real age. Clare believes the freedom of assuming a different identity when one felt like it was the "seduction of traveling alone" (5). Clare planned to attend the festival with her husband Richard, but he was in an accident five weeks prior. Richard was a film studies professor with a specialty in horror. Revolucion Zombi was the first all-digital, Cuban made film with budget of $2 million. Clare attended the festival alone for the first night. She became overwhelmed navigating an unknown world, both film and Havana, alone.
