The Secret of the Wheel Summary

Calwyn sings a chantment that brings pain and suffering to Samis. Calwyn is paying him back for making Darrow sick, for killing her friend Xanni and for crippling Lia. She uses mind-speech to demand to know where the wheel is. Almost dead, Samis gives Calwyn his half of the Wheel and collapses on the ground, bleeding and barely breathing. Calwyn matches his half of the Wheel with the other half.

Halassa wakes Darrow to tell him he heard Calwyn cry out in pain, but of heart, not of body. Halasaa says he tried to mindspeak to Calwyn but that they are still too far from her for her to hear him. When Darrow tries to sing a chantment to bring firewood into the tent, he realizes that his powers have slipped away.
