Sadie

Sadie is a woman from Boston who saw her father die when she was young. At the time, Sadie thought her father was playing a joke. The loss of her father leads Sadie to become very close to her mother Linda, who does not want anything to come between her and her daughter.

Sadie meets and falls in love with Jack and is introduced to Jack’s family at the wedding of one of Jack’s sisters in Ireland. Sadie recognizes some cultural differences between being American and spending time with Jack’s family who is British.

Sadie wants to understand her relationship with Jack. Sadie does not regard the relationship as ideal and sometimes wonders whether or not they should stay together. Sadie does not want children.
