Monday 4th June: Chapters 17-24 Summary

In Chapter Seventeen, Perenelle is the lone human on Alcatraz, surrounded by the many dangerous mythical creatures Dee has collected. At the end of the chapter, a ghost, the Spanish sailor Juan Manuel de Ayala, arrives happy to see Perenelle alive and leads her into the shadows to show her something.

Chapter Eighteen discusses the preparations made for Nicholas to contact Perenelle. An LCD screen and a scrying spell of Dee's learned by Shakespeare many centuries before is used to reveal Perenelle to Nicholas.

In Chapter Nineteen, through the spell Nicholas and Perenelle are able to communicate. They exchange information regarding their health, adventures, and plans. She tells him to use the power he has to stand and fight. Just as he asks if she can stay safe until he comes for her, a monster...
