Chapter 7 Summary

As Adelia is leaving the tower, she sees Dakers hopping along, with her feet and hands still bound. She approaches Dakers and keeps the housekeeper from returning to the tower to be with her mistress because the queen's guards have set the tower on fire. As the queen's guards escort Adelia and Dakers to a mule that will take them to the waiting boat on the river, Adelia sees Walt, Jacques and Rowley have been taken prisoner and tied together with rope.

The prisoners are boarded on to the boat and covered with an old ship's sail in an attempt to keep them warm. Adelia and Dakers are supposed to be bailing water from the boat with jugs they have been supplied, but only Adelia is bailing. Dakers seems to be dying. Adelia tells Rowley that the queen has assembled a rebel army...
