Point of View

The Sea in Winter is written from the main character Maisie's first person point of view. This means that Maisie is telling her story from her personal perspective and in her own voice and words. As a result, the ways in which she describes her life, circumstances, experiences, and feelings drive the presentation of the narrative on the page.
