Summary
The next day, Tom and Michael went to play basketball together. Tom revealed that six months earlier he’d had a call from an old college friend named Brian Palmetto who worked for the Denver Nuggets NBA team. Brian had been involved in a scandal relating to the Nuggets’ owner, Terry Kirkland, who had been accused of a series of offences related to racial and sexual harassment over a number of years. Brian asked Tom to consult on the case to help defend Kirkland and he had agreed. Michael asked Tom about the nature of the allegations and seemed skeptical about Tom getting involved. Eventually Kirkland was suspended for a year and fined fifteen million dollars.
