Summary

Blythe’s pastime became riding the subway with no destination in Chapter 46. One day, she spotted a sign for a support group for mothers with criminal children. Blythe attended the next meeting, claiming that her name was Maureen and her daughter was in jail for theft. She started to feel uncomfortable, and when she asked another mother when she knew there was something wrong with her child, the woman knew Blythe was lying. Months after Sam’s death in Chapter 47, Blythe continued to struggle. Fox refused her entreaties to take a vacation. She found it difficult to engage with Violet during this time of mourning.
