Summary

Violet was four years old in Chapter 27. Her daycare teacher called a meeting with Blythe and Fox regarding Violet. She claimed that Violet was intelligent, but other students were reporting her violent behavior. In one instance, a student reported that she stabbed someone with a pencil. Over a drink, Fox staunchly defended Violet, making excuses about her boredom. But Blythe remained steadfast in her belief that Violet was capable of what her teacher described. She felt that someone outside the home saw what she did in Violet. In Chapter 28, Blythe went to a portrait exhibition of young children who committed gun crimes, searching their faces. Later, Violet told Blythe that she wanted to hurt a fellow classmate, and Blythe gently tried to redirect her. The next day, Blythe found a fistful of hair in Violet’s pocket.
