Summary

In Chapter 40, narrated by Hannah, Hannah got an infection from the bite but would not stop breastfeeding despite her doctor’s advice. Christopher begged Hannah to feed Cole from a bottle, but he did not sympathize with her feelings of failure or the fact that the attachment she felt with Cole while she was breastfeeding was the only thing that made Cole’s crying bearable.
