Summary

Chapter 38 begins with the kids sitting down for a Thanksgiving dinner with a highly skeptical Keith. Trent tells Martin that he could not pry Lane out of the school that she has locked herself in. Then, Trent says he has a kazoo from his mom to put into the machine.

In chapter 39, the kids have a party after dinner. Martin sits and watches the others dance, and Henry comes over and produces the piece of paper that Martin’s father wrote his address on. Martin apologizes to Henry and vice versa before Henry leaves. Martin's stomach becomes upset and he runs to the roof to throw up. He hears cries from below and goes back down to find Sigrid dead and the rest of the kids either “not moving” or “pained” by moving (274), except for Henry. It turns out Henry poisoned the stuffing...
