Chapter 9

Nicolai Penovich, a naval officer from one of the captured asteroids, is brought before Capone on New California. He tells Capone that he wants to join the Organization and take advantage of Capone's policy of not possessing employees with important information or skills. He tells Capone that he knows of a source of anti-matter and will help the Organization take control of and use it. Capone agrees tentatively. Later, Jezzibella must explain to Capone what anti-matter is and that if it is to be used safely, it must be transported on ships free of possessed. Capone tells his lieutenants to begin building teams of non-possessed to man anti-matter transports. He tells them to select family men and to offer their families places in San Angeles's finest resort as "guests." Capone sends two waves of attacking ships against the Edenist habitats...
