Chapters 1-2 Summary

Joshua Calvert and the crew of the Lady Mac have just rescued Kelly Tirrel, Father Horst, and a large group of children from the doomed planet of Lalonde, which has now fallen to the possessed. On Norfolk, Louise Kavanaugh, who is pregnant with Joshua's baby, is impatient for news of her father, who has taken the local militia to the capital city of Norwich to quell riots seemingly brought on by communist revolutionaries. Unbeknownst to the Kavanaugh women, Norwich has fallen to the possessed led by Quinn Dexter, and Louise's father has been possessed. On Ombrey, Ralph Hiltch and his team have been trying to help the planet security network to lock down the spread of the possession virus by three former members of the Lalonde embassy, whom Ralph inadvertently transported to Ombrey along with his possessed captive, Gerald Skibbow.
