Summary

In Chapter 16, Cameron returned home for Christmas. The house was completely decorated. Ruth announced that she was marrying Ray on Christmas Eve. Ruth wanted Cameron to be her maid of honor, but Cameron refused because she did not want Ruth to show her off, despite sending her away for school because she was so ashamed of her. Cameron insisted on wearing her Promise uniform to the wedding. Immediately after the wedding, Cameron attended the GOP Christmas Eve service with her family, where she saw Coley and her family. Cameron greeted Jamie’s mother. She did not get to speak to Coley or see Jamie before returning to school. Cameron wanted to return home for the next school year, but Ruth would not agree to this.
