Connwaer/Conn

Conn is the novel’s protagonist and narrator. He is a young boy who has spent the majority of his life living on the streets of the Twilight. Until he meets Nevery, Conn survives by working as a pick-pocket and thief. Despite his dishonest profession, Conn’s personality is focused on honesty and earnestness. He is a quick learner and a hard-worker.

Nevery Flinglas

Nevery is an elderly wizard who returns to Wellmet after being exiled for more than 20 years. He has a studious and brusque personality. His journal entries reveal him to be highly organized and methodical, but to also have a tender spot for Conn’s innocence.

Benet

Benet is Nevery’s bodyguard. He is physically large and hulking in addition to having a silent and fearsome personality. Despite this, he enjoys more domestic pursuits like cooking and knitting.
