Summary

Wanda flees from Bird Dog as soon as she learns who she is and hides herself in the swamp. After spending the night in the canoe, she comes home and resolves not to fish for some time. As she rests that day, though, she begins to feel as though her life in the swamp lacks meaning. She decides to go find Bird Dog in spite of her fears. When she does, Bird Dog is fishing with a man and a woman. Wanda follows them back to their hideaway and hears the water telling her to let these people help her.

Phyllis and Wanda were attacked in the blue house by two men. Phyllis rose to confront them with a rifle, but one of the men got the better of her and broke her ribs. Before he could kill her, Wanda killed both...
