Summary

Ten years after Flip and Frida’s deaths, Kirby, Lucas, and Wanda eat dinner together. After dinner, Lucas informs Kirby that the state is cutting power to Miami and offering its residents relocation packages. When Lucas and Kirby leave for a job the next morning (Lucas has begun working at Kirby’s company), Wanda is left home alone.

Wanda decides to break Kirby’s rules and go to The Edge, the place where the rising sea level meets the suburbs. She runs into four kids from school there—Brie, Corey, Amanda, and Mick—who begin taunting her. Corey holds Wanda’s head underwater while taunting her, and she begins to glow, which causes Corey to panic and let go. The four older kids leave, frightened, and Brie apologizes to Wanda.
