Summary

In Chapter 14, Nora and Hayden's guests arrive for the gender reveal party. Nora talks with some of the women from Dynasty Ranch about the "application process" and "Richard and Penny's case" (144). Later, when Hayden mentions Nora's blood pressure to his mother, Nora feels irritated. She and Hayden argue in the laundry room. She becomes so angry she punches her fist "down into the cake," revealing a blue interior (149). When she tells Cornelia what happened, she seems unfazed, Cornelia suggests that Nora and Hayden do couples therapy with her.

In Chapter 15, after everyone leaves, Hayden tries to be helpful. Nora feels guilty. Then she asks him about therapy. He agrees to go. Nora feels hopeful that "Things might change. Hayden might change" (157).
