Summary

In Chapter 8, Mr. Healy sends Octavia a message asking her to prioritize the Spriters article. Octavia shows Mr. Healy’s message to her brother Georgie, who offers to help her.

Octavia enters the servants’ entrance at Lord Strythe’s. A maid tells her Lord Strythe is missing. They suspect he is at Vesper Sands in Kent. The only person to visit the house last night was a man with a team and a cart. There was nothing unusual about this, since Lord Strythe is a “great collector” (97). The man left once he heard Lord Strythe was not home.

Octavia bikes to Devlin’s but no one answers her knock on the gate. She heads to the station and chats with an office employee there. When he looks away, she examines the passenger lists from the previous night for trains to Kent. Lord Strythe...
