Summary

In "Radiolab: Singularities,” Jad and Robert interview the writer Anna Mott on an episode of their podcast Radiolab. Anna tells them about a surprising discovery she made while living in Halifax with her parents. She had moved home during the pandemic and felt depressed. She started working with “a seabird sanctuary” and became interested in avian life (197). Then one day, she discovered a photo from 1991, in which a man from Newfoundland, Will Hunt, was standing in a boat with a great auk. Anna was shocked because auks went extinct about 150 years prior. Desperate for answers, she traveled to Mule Harbor where the picture was taken. A local woman named Natalie informed her that Will had died, but she understood why the auk had affected Anna so much.
