Family

Bod is an eighteen-month-old baby when his parents and eight-year-old sister are murdered in their sleep. Bod, an infant who likes to wander, escapes into the night and into the cemetery at the top of the hill. Now an orphan, Bod is adopted by an old couple who have been interred in the cemetery for more than a hundred years.

As Bod grows, he discovers that his newly adopted parents, while kind and compassionate, know very little about the modern, living world. Bod finds himself turning more and more to Silas, the undead man who lives in the cemetery and who has taken on the responsibility of providing food and other items for Bod. Bod asks Silas many questions he has about the modern world and always receives quick and honest answers.
