Summary

The next section is titled “Journal of Rose Ingrid Castle.” Rose writes that Fern did not speak to Rose the day after she saw Billy kiss Rose. Daniel and Nina knew something was wrong but the three denied having a problem. Daniel sent them for a swim. Rose sat with Fern on the bank while Billy swam. Eventually, Rose went into the woods to use the bathroom. It took longer than she intended because she was barefoot. When Rose returned, Fern was not on the bank.
