Summary

In the ruins, Vaedan and Uni discover a network of tunnels lit by dead lichen, glowing cracks, and fragments of corrupted shells. At the bottom, the tunnels lead to a large cavern with a black, still lake. Uni realizes the corrupted lake feeds into the island's groundwater, likely causing the decay in the forest. A large Sea Newt emerges from the water, and Vaedan and Uni fight together to defeat the creature. Realizing the fight cannot continue in their favor, Uni uses her magic to collapse the cavern.

Uni is upset about the destroyed ruins. Attempting to comfort her, Vaedan impulsively kisses Uni. However, Vaedan, unable to process the unfamiliar intensity of his feelings, convinces himself they are the result of a curse Uni placed on him. He accuses her of manipulating him, and their confrontation grows heated. Frustrated, Uni leaves.
