Summary
Dr James tells Toby she’s worried something bad is going to happen and that she thinks Tristan should be excluded from the trial. She says it won’t make any different to the trial because he’s on a placebo. Toby reveals that they organizers of the trial gave the practitioners running the trial inaccurate information about who is and isn’t taking a placebo because they wanted to control for any bias in the researchers themselves. They wanted to study whether if Dr James knew who was and wasn’t taking the drug it would affect the reports she made about what was happening to the volunteers.
