Reptiles

The increasing presence (and increasing size) of the reptiles living in and around the lagoon is symbolic of climate change. The growth of these reptiles occurs in tandem with the warming of the climate as it returns to Triassic conditions, and thus the presence of these animals signifies the extent to which nature has its grip on the drowned cities. The relative absence of reptiles once Strangman arrives signals a shift backwards in time, an indication that human development has control of the land again.
