Summary

The residents of Tooley Farm are relocated to an indoor stadium in Oklahoma City, where they work to recover from their second displacement. A police officer interviews Gavin about Jessamyn, whose overdose they are investigating. The police officer, Officer Nalley, does not appear to suspect Gavin’s involvement in Tate and Jessamyn’s drug dealing. Gavin, meanwhile, is crushed to learn that Jessamyn was lying to him about her identity, as she and Tate were using false IDs. While Gavin grieves the death of his paramour, the children from the library—Tyrique, Manny, and Dasia—find Gavin to return a copy of The Lorax that they took out of the Tooley Farm library. Gavin tries to decline the return, but the children insist. After the children leave, Gavin finds a drawing of him reading to the children on the back page and is...
