The Displacements Overview

Bruce Holsinger's The Displacements follows the movement of the Larsen-Hall family in the wake of a catastrophic storm, Hurricane Luna, which has the ignominious distinction of being the first Category 6 hurricane in history. Through a series of missteps, the wealthy Larsen-Halls find themselves homeless and penniless in the wake of the storm's devastation and are forced to relocate to Tooley Farm, a FEMA camp near the town of Lortner, Oklahoma. As the family struggles to make sense of their ruptured futures, and of the new realities that face them at Tooley Farm, Holsinger explores themes of class, environmentalism, race, substance abuse, and family.
