Point of View

“The Demigod Diaries” by Rick Riordan is a work of fiction and is comprised of four main stories. In “The Diary of Luke Castellan” it is Luke Castellan who tells the story of his trek with another demigod, Thalia, to help a fellow demigod, Halcyon Green, who needs to be rescued. The demigod Halcyon is an old man compared to most demigods. He gives his tattered diary to Luke and asks him to keep making entries in it – thus the title, “The Demigod Diaries.” In this story, Luke is writing about this adventure in the diary.

In “Percy Jackson and the Staff of Hermes” the protagonist of the story, the demigod Percy Jackson, narrates the story of his mission to recover the Staff of Hermes. His demigod girlfriend, Annabeth, accompanies him on this trek. The story is told from Percy’s perspective which allows the...
