The area Spacers inhabit around Cities. It is closed off to New York with barriers, not allowing people to enter without a sequence of disinfections and tests. This place is open to fresh air and it is where the murder of Dr. Sarton occurs.

Aurora is the home planet of Dr. Fastolfe. It is an underpopulated society, where the individual leads a life of comfort, as well as having the ability to study the aging process at length. The native children are screened for physical and mental defects before being allowed to mature. They are painlessly killed if they do not meet healthy expectations.
