Chapter 17 Summary

After WPKX broadcasts news of Iggy's murder every half hour, Qwill begins to receive joking and prank calls. The red-haired detective from Pickax returns with a homicide specialist from Down Below to question Qwill about Iggy. When the homicide specialist questions Qwill about his desire to beat Iggy with a two-by-four, Qwill realizes that he was overheard during his lunch at the FOO with Roger and Bushy. Koko and Yum Yum wreak havoc when the phone rings, and the police leave, though they may want to talk to Qwill again. Qwill wonders if Mooseville "is in the grip of a serial killer- an out-and-out sociopath" (pg. 203,) and Koko seems to agree with unusual interest. When Qwill goes to the hardware store, Cecil warns him that people are circulating unpleasant rumors about Qwill's involvement in Iggy's death. At the cabin, the cats have scattered...
