Abby Stern

Abby Stern is the central character in this novel. She is a dynamic character, one who changes through the course of the novel, as she discovers that she is worth being loved by someone who truly loves her for who she is. When the novel opens, Abby is dating Mark, whom she met at a weight loss camp as a teenager. The two bonded as children, but since then, Mark has had gastric bypass surgery. Abby, however, has decided to stop dieting and instead concentrate on being healthy. She senses that Mark judges her based on her weight and her eating choices.
