Summary

In Part 3, “Lost in Space,” “The Book,” Chapter 46, when Benny was seven, he and Kenji watched Lost in Space. They talked about robots, outer space, and the moon landing.

In “Benny,” Benny remembers watching Lost in Space with Kenji. Afterwards, Kenji came home with a lunar globe. Then he put “Glow-in-the-Dark Wonder Stars” on Benny’s ceiling (320). In the days following, Benny and his parents would lie in bed and invent stories about the constellation Kenji had made. Benny remembers how alive Kenji used to be.

In “The Book,” Chapter 47, Benny returned to school. “On his first day back,” he felt “numb and detached” from reality (325). The Book says that “It’s normal” to experience time and space this way (325).
