New Orleans

New Orleans is the overall setting for this novel. The setting is real, but the author has adjusted many of the facts to create this fictional setting. There are mentions of real places, such as the French Quarter and Lake Pontchartrain (which is called Swamp Pontchartrain). The novel is set in 1884, but the technology is not in line with that time, which is why some aspects of the setting are fictionalized.

Les Grand Murs

Les Grand Murs is where Creeper has established a home base. This is apparently a high wall that provides security for the city from storms but also serves as a landing place for airships. Creeper has chosen an alcove that is near enough to see those arriving but secluded enough to provide some protection.
