Summary

The next chapter is titled “Chapter XXV: The Witches' Party.” The witches have placed enchanted mirrors all over the parlor, and they are dancing with “frenzied insanity” around the room. They agree the Beast has given up, is ready to die without Belle, and knows how it feels to have a broken heart. They watch as Gaston arrives at the castle with an angry mob. They chant “Kill the Beast.” Gaston and the Beast, once old friends, are now so thoroughly under the curse “they did not remember each other” (129). The Beast does not fight back at first. The sisters can see the moment something changes his mind, then the see Belle. The Beast dangles Gaston over the edge of the roof.
