Summary

Jacks pulls Evangeline through the river, and to safety. Evangeline finally accepts that it was not Jacks who cursed Apollo to hunt her, but the idea that someone else in their world did it is frightening. Jacks explains that all curses have backdoors, even though the only real way to end the curse on Apollo is for him to kill Evangeline, if she opens the Valory Arch he can be saved to. Evangeline is skeptical, but eventually agrees to work with Jacks to find the four missing stones and open the arch. When Evangeline asks if Chaos may have cast the curse, Jacks shakes his head, explaining that Chaos would not risk the life of another key now that they were so close to opening the arch. Shocked by this, Evangeline learns that there were girls before her who technically fulfilled the prophecy...
