Summary

In Chapter 120, the iron basket hurtles down the ice shaft. The basket tips end over end. Kate hangs onto the basket. The basket has overturned pinning her underneath. There is a small opening, but she will have to dig to fit through it. She digs with her hands. Her suit gets caught on the jagged iron mesh. It rips a whole in the suit holding her tight. She gets the suit loose, but the cold is rushing through the hole in the suit. She gets out of the basket, but her legs are growing stiff. She fights to keep her balance. The cold begins to affect her thinking. Kate waddles away from the light. She cannot feel her body. She makes it to a doorway and falls to her knees after entering.
