Summary

Stéphane goes back to jail, and is not released from probation until 2015. He is now forty-three years old. All of his assets, few of which he actually bought himself, such as the car his mother gifted him, have been seized. He is completely broke. Stéphane cannot afford to buy food, and must drive to his maternal grandparents house, where his mother still lives, to eat lunch.

All Stéphane likes to do is go on hikes through the mountains, foraging through abandoned fortresses for mushrooms and so on. He no longer reads, nothing interests him. Nor does he visit museums, as they will awaken bad memories in him. Stéphane is still missing eighty of the artworks he stole, half of them are silverworks.
