Point of View

Teen Idol is recounted in the first-person point of view. It is recounted from Jenny's perspective in the present tense. Before each chapter is a question to Ask Annie followed by Ask Annie's response. These short snippets are recounted in the first person by both the questioner and Ask Annie. All other characters in the book express their feelings through dialogue and action. Jenny is the only person whose thoughts the reader has access to.

Setting

Teen Idol takes place in the small town of Clayton, Indiana. Jenny describes the town as being too small to appear on most maps.
